The 2020 Grand National will take place on Saturday 4th April 2020 at 5:15pm, live on ITV. Tickets are available to buy now, and early odds are available to give an idea of runners, although the entries will be confirmed in January 2020. The winner in both 2018 and 2019, Tiger Roll, could make it three in a row. A feat not even achieved by the great Red Rum, who is the only horse to win the National three times. Since the first race in 1836 only four other horses have won it back to back, Abd-El-Kader (1850-51), The Colonel (1869-70), Reynoldstown (1935-36) and Red Rum (1973-74). Jockey Davy Russell would become the only rider to win more than twice, to give him extra incentive to race again.

Top 3 early favourites for the 202o Grand National

TIGER ROLL

Odds – 6/1
Tiger Roll and Jockey Davy Russell seek an unprecedented three in a row, and while race plans are uncertain Russell has been confirmed in the seat by owner Michael O’Leary. The Gordon Elliot trained horse won in 2017 at odds of 10-1 and in 2018 at 4-1, and if confirmed to race will likely run at the shortest odds ever known. Check for non-runner conditions but now might be time to back the history-making horse.

BURROWS SAINT

Odds – 20/1
The 2019 Irish Grand National winner will only be 7 years old for the 2020 Grand National where the 4-mile course and 30 jumps is considered one of the most gruelling in track racing. But trainer Willie Mullins would hope to better previous young runners and beat the 12th place Baie Des Iles in 2018.

MAGIC OF LIGHT

Odds – 22/1
The 125/1 mare almost spoiled the Tiger Roll party in 2019, but had to settle for second place. One thing is for certain in that the odds will not be as good but remains one to watch.
