What Writing Do We Want?

We are always looking for interesting and engaging stories on UK news and what is happening in the world in the areas of politics, entertainment, sports, fashion, lifestyle, and health. We like expert opinions that do not shy away from challenging and honest conversation and that present facts. We like it when people share their experience, challenges, and knowledge with our community. Of course, we want stories that are original and have not shown up anywhere before. Did we mention that we like seeing the people behind all the fantastic things going on in the world? We must add here too that we like it when we see writing that is not just out of the box, but that is running down to street to probably catch a train.

Do you have a post that includes a good number of all these things we like? If your answer is yes, then you need to send it to us right away. If your answer is no, why not go put together a piece that can meet our requirements and send it on to us? Our standard word length is about 500 words for short posts and, for the longer ones with more juice, the word length is about 1000 words.

Once your post is ready, send it to us at editor@inthenews.co.uk. We would like to see other awesome things that you have written, two or three will do. So when sending us your piece, include a link to your blog (if you have one) or to other posts you have written that are on the web. If you have nothing online, you can send or add an attachment of a couple of your pieces to the email. Whatever it is you are sending us, make sure it is similar to what you intend to write for In The News.

When we receive your submission, we will review it and if it is good fit that will resonate with our audience, we will use it.

Just a few pointers before you send on that piece:

  • Please use plain English. Simple, not overly technical or academic sentences are much preferred.
  • The shorter your sentences, the better.
  • Favour the active voice over the passive voice.
  • Just like we did here, use bullets or a similar alternative instead of a lot of text with many ideas in it.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, you are welcome to send us an email at editor@inthenews.co.uk.

We look forward to reading your submission!
