Andy Murray sweeps into the US Open quarter-finals
Andy Murray has swept into the US Open quarter-finals after a convincing 6-1 6-3 6-3 victory over tenth seed Stanislas Wawrinka.
The 21-year-old took just one hour 49 minutes to progress to his second consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final.
He will now face 19-year-old Juan Martin de Porto from Argentina and could face world number one Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals.
Speaking after his fourth round victory, Murray claimed he had produced some of the best tennis of his career and said he was confident he could go all the way at Flushing Meadows this year.
"It was the first match I've played on that court [Arthur Ashe Stadium]," Murray said.
"I've been looking forward to it for a long, long time, and to play like that made it pretty special.
"To play like that was obviously great, it gives me a bit of extra confidence.
"The last Slam quarter I played [at Wimbledon], I got killed and Nadal played way too good for me, but I feel like I'm playing better now," he added.
"I'm definitely going to be more rested this time round and hopefully play a better match. I think I'm playing well enough to win."
