Hamilton has a four point lead at the top of the drivers' championship
Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday's Hungarian grand prix in pole position, after a brilliant performance at Hungaroring.
It was a great day for his McLaren team with team-mate Heikki Kovalainen taking second place.
The pole is the tenth of Hamilton's career and will make him firm favourite to extend his lead at the top of the drivers' championship.
The track in Hungary is one in which pole position is vitally important, and Hamilton can go into Sunday's race full of confidence.
He currently has a lead of four points from Felipe Massa at the top of the table.
Ferrari's Massa took third position, while reigning drivers' world champion Kimi Raikkonen finished a disappointing sixth.
Hamilton qualified in a quickest lap of one minute 20.899 seconds.
