An individual in Afghan army uniform is believed to have shot and wounded five Nato soldiers in the east of the country.

The five are reportedly American and are currently receiving medical treatment for their wounds. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

This is the latest in a series of so-called "green-on-blue" attacks in the area, which is where Afghans dress up in police or army uniforms to attack international forces.

On Sunday (July 1st) three British soldiers were shot and killed by a man dressed as a policeman as they left a checkpoint in Helmand province.

The US and Pakistan announced on Tuesday that Nato supply routes into Afghanistan would be reopened after officials in Washington apologised for the killing of 24 soldiers last November.

It is believed this decision on supply lines will save the US millions of dollars in the run-up to the withdrawal.
