BBC DJ Chris Moyles has announced that his last breakfast show at the broadcaster will be on September 14th.

However, the 38-year-old confirmed that he will be having a "goodbye party show" the day before his final on air programme.

Moyles initially told his listeners that he would be leaving his radio show after eight-and-a-half years with Nick Grimshaw later confirmed as his successor.

Upon his announcement, the DJ claimed he had had "the best time of his life" doing the job.

From September, Moyles will be playing the role of Herod in a UK tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

The former Capital host became Radio 1's longest-serving breakfast DJ in September 2009, taking over from the previous incumbent Tony Blackburn.

He is set to present a different programme on the station after leaving in September, however, the details of this are not yet known.
