Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg has rounded off a memorable week by marrying his long-term partner Priscilla Chan.

The 28-year-old tied the knot with his girlfriend of nine years in his back garden yesterday, just 24 hours after floating his company on the stock exchange.

Immediately after the ceremony, Zuckerberg added details of the ceremony to his page on the site, writing: "Mark added a life event to May 19, 2012 on his timeline: Married Priscilla Chan." More than 500,000 people liked the update.

Approximately 100 guests were in attendance and had been told they were visiting the pair's home to celebrate the new Mrs Zuckerberg's graduation. They were later told of the real reason for the gathering.

It completes a great few days for the social networking chief, as entering Facebook on the Nasdaq is believed to have earned him billions of pounds.

As well as taking to Facebook to inform the world of his nuptials, Zuckerberg added a picture of him and his wife. He wore a dark suit, while she opted for a traditional white wedding dress.
