Germany and Portugal both progressed to the quarter-final stage of Euro 2012 last night (June 17th).
An action-packed evening saw the Germans top Group B following a 2-1 victory over Denmark, while a Cristiano Ronaldo double was enough to secure a 2-1 win for Portugal over Holland.
Many people fancied the Dutch to do well in the "Group of Death", but they failed to amass a single point, as they lost all three of their games.
Germany powered through to the latter stages of the competition, as Lukas Podolski and Lars Bender scored either side of Michael Krohn-Dehli's header for the Danes.
They will face Greece in the last eight, while Portugal must overcome the Czech Republic if they are to make the semi-finals.
Few teams will relish the thought of playing Joachim Loew's men, who are many bookies' favourites to lift the trophy. However, the German coach has insisted that Greece - who defeated Russia to book their place in the quarter-finals - will provide his side with a very tough test.
