Tottenham are bracing themselves for the possibility of losing star players Gareth Bale and Luka Modric this summer.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has admitted it might be difficult to keep hold of the duo if some of Europe's biggest clubs come calling.

The Welsh wideman has been linked with European champions Barcelona, while the club fought to keep Modric from the clutches of Chelsea last summer but may be vulnerable to a new bid from the Blues or long-term admirers Manchester United and Manchester City.

Redknapp has confessed to being unsure of whether he will be able to call upon the two players next season.

"I would be lying if I said I was sure Luka will stay - you don't know. It was vital that we kept him last summer," the manager said.

Bale has intimated in an interview with Football Focus that he could be prepared to leave north London if Spurs do not qualify for next season's Champions League. He admitted all players want "to test themselves against the best players in the world".
