Westlife singer Shane Filan has been declared bankrupt in the UK following the collapse of his property firm.
The Irish band have sold millions of records all around the world but Mr Filan suffered huge losses in Ireland's property crash.
He filed to bankruptcy in the UK which has a less onerous regime than the Republic of Ireland.
In the UK the period of bankruptcy usually last for a year, however, in Ireland it is at least three years and more commonly 12 years.
Shafin Developments Limited was established by Mr Filan and his brother Finbarr in 2004 and had been involved in developments in Leitrim and Sligo.
This follows the company being placed in receivership last month.
Following the ruling at Kingston County Court in Surrey the dejected singer said: “I have worked long and hard to reduce my debts, and I am devastated that it came to this.”
