The latest relaunch of the Spider-Man franchise has premiered in Tokyo with British actor Andrew Garfield making his debut in the title role of the film.
Entitled The Amazing Spider-Man, the flick opens to limited release in Japan in June and worldwide from July 3rd.
This latest film is said to explain how geeky teen Peter Parker becomes the superhero.
The Social Network star Garfield takes the comic book role played by Tobey Maguire in the previous three movies, while Emma Stone plays Parker's love interest and Rhys Ifans portrays the new screen villain.
Marc Webb has directed the movie and is known best for his 2009 romantic comedy (500) Days of Summer.
Garfield, who was raised and educated in Britain and event made his TV debut on Channel 4, told Reuters of the film: "Spider-Man has always been the only teenage superhero, and the most human one in my humble opinion, and that's just one of the things that sets him apart."
