Mongolian government set to life emergency rule
he government of Mongolia is set to lift emergency rule imposed after rioting in the wake of general elections in the country.

The country's first imposition of extraordinary security measures in the country occurred after five people were killed and many buildings vandalised in post-election violence.

Foreign minister Sanjaasuren Oyun told the Reuters news agency that emergency rule would be ended later tonight saying that doubts about the move were unfounded.

Last week, opposition activists from the Democratic party claimed that the ruling Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) had rigged the vote and demanded a recount of ballots.

The MPRP rejected the claims and stated that elections, which saw it maintain its majority in parliament, were free and fair. International observers also approved the central Asian country's election process.

Mongolia, famous for being the homeland of Genghis Khan, is a landlocked country bordered by Russia, China and Kazakhstan.End of story
