Watch amazing footage of a live heart surgery here on inthenews.co.uk.
On August 15th 2008, a live heart surgery was filmed at University College London Heart hospital.
The patient, Ahmed Al Haj, is a 48-year-old chef from London.
Ahmed is a non-smoker and occasional drinker, however he has consumed a diet rich in Ghee, or clarified butter.
This ingredient is used in vast quantities in many Asian dishes and contains high quantities of saturated fat.
Not only does this video show how the surgeons opened up Ahmed's body to reveal his beating heart, it also looks forward to a debate that tackles the issue of the over-consumption of saturated fat in the UK.
The debate is called Sat Fat Nation: Is Britain Eating Itself to Death? and will be streamed live on
www.satfatnav.com on Wednesday September 10th at 18:30 BST.
