Discounts for attendees of Paris festival after Winehouse withdrawal
Attendees of a Parisian music festival are to be offered discounts after Amy Winehouse pulled out hours before she was due on stage.
The 24-year-old did not travel to the Rock En Seine festival on Friday August 29th due to an illness, according to her spokesman, causing the event organisers to threaten legal action against the star.
And the festival will now offer fans who had tickets for August 29th a 18 (£15) discount on tickets for Rock En Seine 2009.
A statement from the organisers issued after Winehouse's withdrawal said there was "no explanation of the exact reasons for her absence".
"Amy Winehouse should have arrived on the site early Friday evening," it continued.
"We were told by her agent at 20:00 [19:00 BST] that she wasn't coming."
And according to the Rock En Seine website, the Back to Black star's exit was at such short notice that some of her musicians and technicians were already at the Saint-Cloud park site near Paris.
She had performed at the Glastonbury and V festivals this summer and is due to take to the stage at Bestival next weekend.
Writing on the Bestival website forum, curator Rob da Bank assured festivalgoers that the singer is still expected to perform.
"Regarding Amy, simply, I do not have any more info as of today (September 2nd)," he wrote, "I am in contact with her agent and manager and we'll know what's happening after the weekend."
"If she can't do the gig, rest assured I do have a very good back-up plan. Have we ever let you down?"
